Halloween happenings set in the North Woods

Communities across the North Woods are getting into the spooky spirit with family-friendly thrills and frightful fun over the next two weekends.
This list was compiled from area chamber of commerce websites and submissions to the newspaper. 

Eagle River

HallowFest will take place Saturday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in downtown Eagle River and will feature a treasure hunt, costume contest, a dance performance by Chain O’ Dance Studio, Eagle River Lions Club goody bags, a prize spinning wheel, and free movies at Vilas Cinema. The Eagle River Historical Society will host a Cracker Jack Halloween Social on Saturday, Oct. 25, during HallowFest, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Depot Museum, 116 S. Railroad St. Little trick-or-treaters will receive a free Cracker Jack at the door, and hot apple cider and caramel-dipped apple slices will be available for purchase while supplies last.

A Pumpkin Party is slated Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northwoods Children’s Museum, 346 W. Division St. Kids can come in costume for pumpkin crafts, games, and popcorn before or after HallowFest downtown. Regular admission applies. Call 715-479-4623 for details.

A Trunk-or-Treat Spooktacular will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 9:30 p.m. at Yum Yum Bowl and Kenny’s Elite Auto Detail, 5179 Highway 70. The event will feature candy, games and prizes, music and dancing, an outdoor movie, and costume and trunk-decorating contests. All ages are welcome; admission is free.

Boo Fest is set for Friday, Oct. 31, at 4 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 105 N. First St. The event offers families free hotdogs, candy, treats, and surprises on the church lawn during the town’s trick-or-treat hours. For more information, call 715-802-8501.

Trunk-or-treating will take place Friday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 223 Silver Lake Road.

Lake Nokomis Cranberries, 6045 Highway D, will hold a trunk-or-treat event Saturday, Nov. 1, from noon to 4 p.m. To sign up for a trunk spot, call 715-479-6546.

Note: According to its website and Facebook page, Evil Falls House of Tormented Souls is closed for the 2025 season.

Three Lakes

The Three Lakes Lions Club will host a family Halloween party Friday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. at Three Lakes High School, 6930 W. School St. The event features trunk-or-treating and prizes for best costumes for all ages.

A Halloween Spooky Eve party is set for Friday, Oct. 31, at 9 p.m. at Spiritview Lakeside, 1426 Highway 32, with free snacks, costume contests, karaoke, and a live DJ.

Phelps

The Phelps Youth Recreation Association will hold its annual Fall Bash Saturday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Phelps School commons.

Before the party, the group is creating a trick-or-treat map of local homes and businesses handing out treats. Trick-or-treating will take place from 1 to 4 p.m., and maps will be available throughout town on the day of the event.

Residents who would like their address included on the map should contact Lori Merkel at 715-350-1407 by Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Land O’ Lakes

The Land O’ Lakes Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Zombie Crawl and Witch’s Ball on Saturday, Oct. 25. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. with free zombie makeup at the VFW, followed by a pre-party featuring complimentary snacks and drinks from Charlie’s Northwoods Market.

From 5 to 10 p.m., participants will visit local bars during the Zombie Crawl, with free party bus rides provided by Xecutive Limousine.

The night will cap off with the Witch’s Ball at Northern Waters Casino Resort from 8 p.m. to midnight, featuring a DJ, light-and-smoke show, costume contest, drink specials, and $90 room rates.

Admission is free. Shuttle service will run until 1 a.m. For more information, call or text 715-617-4274.

Land O’ Lakes Public Library will host its annual Boo Bash Halloween party Friday, Oct. 31. From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., there will be treats, games, hot dogs and a campfire (weather permitting), along with the new scary circus haunted hallway. Kids also will have the chance to see a fire truck and meet firefighters.

Conover

The Conover Lions Club will hold its annual Kids Halloween Party for children 12 and under Friday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Conover Recreation Center, 4697 Park Circle, Hwy K East.

The event will feature pumpkin decorating, games, prizes, and a costume parade, with plenty of treats for all. Food and beverages will be available, and participants can win prizes for taking part in the activities.

St. Germain

St. Germain will hold trick-or-treating hours throughout the town Friday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Sayner

Plum Lake Public Library will host its annual Trunk-N-Treat event Thursday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the library, 8789 Peterson St. For more information, call the library at 715-542-2020.

Sayner Pub will host its second annual Halloween Party for Kids — Little Ghouls’ Night Out — Thursday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m., after Trunk-N-Treat at the library, with free pizza, hot chocolate, gift bags, and spooky tunes.

On Halloween night, Friday, Oct. 31, Sayner Pub will host another party for those 21 and over from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., featuring DJ Ginga J and a costume show.

Presque Isle

A Spooktacular Trunk-or-Treat is set for Friday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pipke Park, 11662 Highway W, Presque Isle. Attendees can trunk-or-treat around the pond and take the Haunted Forest Spook Walk. There will be a Witches Brew bonfire to warm up, as well as food and beverages.

Manitowish Waters

A trunk-or-treat event will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, from noon to 2 p.m. at Koller Park in downtown Manitowish Waters. Those interested in handing out candy should meet at the park between 11 and 11:45 a.m., find an open parking space, and park close to the next car to maximize space; decorating of trunks is encouraged. Rhinelander

Sprecksel Slaughterhouse will host Neon Nightmares, an ’80s-themed haunted house, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24–25, from 4 to 9 p.m. at 422 Abner St., featuring family-friendly hours from 4 to 6 p.m. Admission is $5, with proceeds supporting the Rhinelander Skatepark Project.

Woodruff

Eaglebrook Church will host its first Trunk and Treat on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1025 Margaret St., featuring Halloween-themed trunks, treats, and activities for families.
