The Kalmar Community Center hosted a successful spaghetti dinner recently to benefit Eagle River’s Wounded Warriors In Action (WWIA).
Guests enjoyed a hearty meal, followed by homemade desserts. Fundraising efforts were bolstered by 18 basket raffles featuring items donated by local businesses, as well as a 50/50 raffle.
Representatives from Quilts of Valor were also present to honor veterans Dennis Geisman Sr. and Bill Rerutko. Each received a handmade quilt as part of the organization’s mission to comfort and thank veterans touched by war.
Since its inception in 2003 by Catherine Roberts, Quilts of Valor has awarded over 400,000 quilts to service members and veterans.
The evening concluded with camaraderie and conversation as attendees shared stories and came together in support of WWIA’s mission to serve combat-wounded veterans.
