Land O’ Lakes Arts (LOLA) is asking for the community’s support as it embarks on a $50,000 Capital Improvement Campaign to fund critical building upgrades at its arts center.
As a creative outlet in the North Woods, LOLA serves as a gathering place for performances, exhibitions and public events, while offering a wide variety of art classes and free weekly art groups for all ages.
Planned upgrades include window replacement to improve safety and energy efficiency, required fire safety and building code updates, and the installation of a new locking and security system to better protect the facility and its artwork. The campaign has taken on added urgency following a recent boiler failure.
“These investments are essential to ensure the building remains safe, secure and fully compliant with regulations,” organizers said. “By addressing these needs now, LOLA is protecting its participants, staff and community while preserving the long-term sustainability of the creative space where its mission comes to life.
“These upgrades strengthen the overall experience of the space — allowing artists to focus on their work, students to learn without disruption, and community members to connect in a well-maintained environment. Most importantly, they help ensure that LOLA remains a reliable, vibrant hub for creativity and community.”
Organizers said reaching the $50,000 goal would be transformative.
“Achieving this goal would not only protect the building and everyone who uses it, but also free up future operating funds to focus on programming, community engagement and expanding access to the arts rather than emergency repairs,” they said. “In short, $50,000 would strengthen LOLA’s foundation and safeguard its mission well into the future.”
In addition to the capital campaign, LOLA is approaching general fundraising differently this year. Through its new ticketing and donation system, Ludus, the organization has created tiered sponsorship levels for donors. Contributions of any size are welcome, and donors can choose to sponsor a specific event or program.
Sponsorship levels begin with the LOLA Supporter level for donations up to $499, which includes social media recognition and an invitation to a sponsor appreciation reception. Higher levels — Apprentice Sponsor ($500+), Artist Sponsor ($1,000+), Curator Sponsor ($2,500+), Collector Sponsor ($5,000+), and Patron of the Arts Sponsor ($10,000+) — offer increasing benefits such as website and program recognition, complimentary event tickets, gala seating, promotional opportunities and even title sponsorship of key programs.
To thank supporters, the center is planning a Supporter Appreciation Lunch at midday on Tuesday, March 31, to express personal gratitude to all who contribute both time and financial support to the arts.
Community members who wish to donate can visit lolaarts.ludus.com/donate or mail a check with contact information to P.O. Box 981, Land O’ Lakes, WI 54540. Land O’ Lakes Arts is located at 4262 Highway B. For more information, call 715-547-3950.
With the community’s help, LOLA hopes to secure its building’s future and continue serving as a creative gathering place for the North Woods.
