Classic cars, live music and Oktoberfest festivities will fill Land O’ Lakes on Saturday, Sept. 12, with events planned throughout the day and evening.
Auto show and radar run
The Land O’ Lakes Auto Show will return for its second year from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Land O’ Lakes Elementary School, 6485 Town Hall Road. It will feature a collection of classic, custom and specialty vehicles, along with appearances by famous movie and television vehicles. Featured attractions will include the original Batmobile, Batman’s motorcycle and the General Lee.
Shuttle buses will run throughout the day between the auto show and the radar run at the Land O’ Lakes Airport.
Celebrity guest
This year’s celebrity guest is Tom Wopat, best known for playing Luke Duke on “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Wopat’s career spans television, film, Broadway and music, with credits including “Django Unchained,” “Longmire” and “County Line.”
Fans will have the opportunity to meet Wopat from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the auto show and again that evening at Oktoberfest. Wopat is also expected to take a drive in the General Lee and make a lap during the timed radar run hosted by the airport.
Oktoberfest
Beginning at 4 p.m., festivities will move to the Snowflake Ice Rink for Oktoberfest, which will run until 10 p.m.
The Jim Pekol Polka Band will kick off live music at 4:30 p.m. with traditional polka music.
At 6:30 p.m., Wopat will take the stage for a mini-concert. In addition to his acting career, Wopat is a recording artist and performer who has appeared at the Grand Ole Opry.
The Dukes of Hudson will follow at 7 p.m. with outlaw country music, performing favorites associated with Hank Williams, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings, among others.
Food and beverages will also be available throughout Oktoberfest. Revolution Brewing will offer a variety of beer, along with nonalcoholic, gluten-free and seltzer options. The Land O’ Lakes VFW will serve German favorites, while Northwoods Brewpub BBQ of Eau Claire will offer barbecue. Pine Cone Express will serve additional food, and Yort’s Sip N’ Scoops will offer sweet treats.
Oktoberfest will also host a U.S. Steinholding Association competition, challenging participants to see who can hold a stein the longest, with separate men’s and women’s divisions.
Attendees are encouraged to wear lederhosen, dirndls and other Oktoberfest attire for a best-dressed costume contest.
This year’s corporate sponsors are Revolution Brewing, the American Legion Family of Land O’ Lakes and Ritzer’s ABC Pest Control.
