Nicolet National Bank Senior Spotlight

Samantha Nampel, a Northland Pines senior, has done it all during her time at Northland Pines. She has been on the fall cheer team during football games, managed the varsity girls’ basketball team and plays on the varsity soccer team in the spring. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. After graduating, Nampel will attend Ripon College to study marketing and continue to play soccer. Here is more on the Northland Pines senior:

Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?
“My full name is Samantha, so I guess Sammy is kind of my nickname.”

Do you participate in any other sports besides soccer?

“I did fall cheer because it was fun to go to all of the football games and also because my friends were in it. I also managed the girls’ varsity basketball team because it is a good environment to be in, and I got to be a part of the team in a different way.”

Is there a personal goal you have on the field this year?
“A personal goal for on the field this year is just to remember to have more fun. I think a lot of times it is easy for me to forget why I do this sport and why I love it. So this year, I want to try to focus on the fun of the game and not stress out as much. I also want to be a good leader for the younger girls on the team and try to make the environment a place where they want to be.”

What other hobbies do you have outside of sports?
“I really like to bake, although I’m not very good at it. I also love to go swimming in the summertime. I am in the National Honor Society, so I do some work for that.”

Favorite vacation spot that you’ve been to?
“My favorite vacation spot I have ever been to is Hawaii. I went first when I was nine and then when I was 13. It’s my favorite place because I have a lot of memories with my family there. I also love it because it is really unique, with really nice beaches, but also really green mountains.”

Do you have a pregame ritual that helps you before your games?
“I don’t really have a pregame ritual, but if we have time before games, I like to just lie on the ground.”

Do you have any plans for after high school? College?

“After high school, I will be attending Ripon College and will be studying marketing. I will also continue to play soccer there.”
