The Nutty Squirrel in Eagle River will host a fundraiser for the Vuk family Saturday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Jessica Klemmer, her fiancé, Tony Vuk, and their three children lost their Eagle River home in a fire caused by a lightning strike during a severe thunderstorm July 27. The family was not home at the time, but their four dogs — Walter, Rosie, Ziigy and Dutton — died in the fire.
The family recently moved into temporary housing while waiting for their home to be rebuilt.
The benefit will feature live music by Northern Daze of Ontonagon, Mich., along with basket raffles, a silent auction, gift certificates and a gun raffle. Prizes include a full-day pontoon rental and a wheelbarrow of liquor. Tickets for the gun raffle are available in advance at the bar.
A food buffet will also be available for a donation, and the bar will be open for drink purchases.
All proceeds from the raffles and food donations will go directly to the family.
The Nutty Squirrel is located at 3385 Highway 70 East in Eagle River.
Community members interested in donating items for the fundraiser may contact the restaurant at 715-477-0322 or visit The Nutty Squirrel on Facebook for updates.
