Phelps Chamber celebrates growth; sets 2025 vision at annual meeting

Posted

The Phelps Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual member meeting at Phelps Hillside Restaurant, where approximately 50 business owners and chamber members celebrated the town’s growth and discussed future plans.

Following a buffet dinner, Chamber President Quita Sheehan welcomed attendees and introduced Chamber Director Laura Richart, who presented the annual report.

Richart highlighted key achievements, including the addition of summer assistant Ava McCormick through the NPHS School to Work Youth Apprenticeship program, for which she emphasized she is highly grateful for the much-needed help.

She also noted the chamber’s expanding reach through social media, reporting a 5.3% increase in Facebook followers, now totaling 17,200.

“It’s our biggest marketing product,” Richart added.

The chamber’s website also saw significant traffic, with an average of 1,500 visitors per month and a peak of 9,100 during the Musky Tournament.

The chamber hosted several successful events in 2024, including a well-attended Maple Syrup Fest, which doubled revenue expectations, and the popular Fourth of July celebration.

While some events continue to grow, the chamber is considering changes to the Twin Triathlon and 5k due to limited participation.

The chamber currently has 104 members, reflecting a 6% increase from last year. Looking ahead, Richart outlined goals for 2025, including a new chamber website, reviving “Business After 5” events with neighboring chambers, and securing a new billboard along highway 45.

Two new board members were elected: Phil Mendham of Sunrise Lodge and Chris Phelps of Pine Cone Restaurant.
