Twenty five local businesswomen gathered at Camp Jorn in Manitowish Waters to network, share ideas, and help grow their businesses at the Vilas County Women in Business Networking Fall Brunch on Saturday, Oct. 26.
“I am truly inspired by all of you here today representing Vilas County resorts, health and wellness, hospitality, catering, financial services, restaurants and so much more,” said Kathy Schmitz, executive director of the Vilas County Economic Development Corporation. “It is true: women bring something truly special to the way we do business — we thrive on connection, community and collaboration. And that’s why today is so special. The work you do, that we do together, helps create a strong, vibrant Northwoods economy for today and generations to come.”
The free networking event for women entrepreneurs was sponsored by the Vilas County Economic Development Corporation, LakeTime Management and the Entrepreneur Fund.
The event was developed by the Vilas County Women in Business Committee, comprised of eight women business leaders from Vilas County. It was the second special event held this year.
Jeff Larson, representing the Entrepreneur Fund, a nonprofit lender in Wisconsin, shared their mission to help small businesses and entrepreneurs lending funds, providing advice, expertise and personalized support for growing small businesses.
Kelly Cooper, President/CEO of LakeTime Management, and Vilas County EDC board member, is a supporter of the VCEDC, having sponsored the first Women in Business networking brunch in April at the Cranberry Castle in Eagle River. LakeTime Management provided a scrumptious brunch including salads, fruit, coffee cakes, baked French toast, egg dishes, coffee and fruit juices. Schmitz said that attendees appreciated the seasonal decorations, pumpkins, and fall flowers in the Camp Jorn setting, where a canoe hangs from the ceiling in front of the mammoth floor-to-ceiling fieldstone fireplace.
After brunch, introductions were made to the entire group, table by table. Enterprises present included baking entrepreneurs, a traveling chef, wellness providers, and more.
There were also donations of toys and books made to the YMCA in Camp Jorn.
